I&B Ministry Drafts Policies To Boost The AVGC-XR Sector

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in India released some new draft policies for the animation and gaming industries. These policies are meant to help these industries grow and succeed in India, both at the national and state levels.

So, what exactly are these policies all about?

Well, the animation policy is focused on supporting and promoting the production of animated content in India. It highly focuses on the “Create in India” campaign, which boosts the emergence and importance of content creators in India. This includes creating more opportunities for animators to work and make a living and supporting the development of new technologies and techniques to improve the quality of animated content.

There will be unlimited opportunities for creators in Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics – Extended Reality sectors. It’s shortened as AVGC-XR in most cases. A report was also released on “Realising AVGC-XR Potential in India.”

The AVGC-XR task force was formed with the approval of Apurva Chandra from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Nirmala Sitharaman recommended the creation of this task force in the budget speech.

As per the report, India is currently contributing about $3 million to the AVGC market, which amounts to $275 million worldwide. India will grow immensely in this sector in the next decade. The growth percentage is about 14-16 percent. So, this is an opportunity for all the content creators in gaming, animation, movie, comics, or visual effects to sharpen their skill and craft.

According to the same news release, about 20 lakh individuals will be easily employed by 2030 in India in this sector. So this is the boom period for all the crazy and amateur content creators to hone their skills and become professionals before the demand rises beyond expectation.

By keeping this gaming policy in mind, the task force of the AVGC also put forward a lot of recommendations to pay attention to. The major focus is on developing the Create in India campaign. The next milestone should be for developing and launching an international platform for Indian content creators and a gaming expo for all game enthusiasts to make a career and living out of it.

Both of these policies are designed to help India's animation and gaming industries become more successful and contribute to the economy. They also aim to make it easier for people in India to access high-quality animated and gaming content.

Overall, these draft policies are a big step forward for the animation and gaming industries in India. They show that the government is committed to supporting and promoting these industries and is willing to take action to make sure that they can thrive and grow. We hope that these policies will help lead to even more exciting and innovative animated and gaming content coming out of India in the future.
